Aeroflot to resume direct flights to Sri Lanka in October
Direct flights between Moscow and Sri Lanka are set to resume on October 4, according to Ruwan Ranasinghe, Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Employment Abroad, and Tourism. The official made the announcement to RIA Novosti, confirming that Aeroflot will restart the service after a period of suspension.
Ranasinghe noted that the absence of direct air connectivity has had a negative impact on tourist arrivals to the island nation.
The news comes as Sri Lanka participates in the international travel forum "Let us Travel!" in Moscow for the second time. The event, held at the VDNKh exhibition center from June 10 to 14, has provided an opportunity for the country’s delegation to engage with Russian government officials and regional leaders.
