The number of Russian tourists in Spain increased by 8% for nine months
As the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) reports, in January-September 2019, 1,1 million Russian tourists visited Spain, which is 7,6% higher than the figure for the same period in 2018.
Totally for nine months, 67,098 million foreign tourists visited Spain, which is 1,3% more than in January-September 2018. The largest number of tourists traditionally came from the UK (14,757 million people, 1,6% less than the same period last year), from France (9,129 million, -2,4%) and Germany (8,980 million, -1%). At the same time, over nine months, tourist flow from the United States grew by 14,2%, up to 2,632 million, from Portugal - by 8,5% (2,006 million), from Italy - by 3,9% (3,617 million) and from Ireland - by 7,4% (1,802 million).
Catalonia is the most popular holiday resort in Spain with 15,624 million tourists (+ 0.6%) for nine month. On the second position are the Balearic Islands (12,148 million, -0,4%), on the third line is Andalusia (9,706 million, + 3,4%) and on the fourth line is Canary Islands (9,629 million, -4,2%). In January-September, Madrid was visited by 5,693 million tourists (+ 7.4%).
