Hotels at Russian resorts in summer turned out to be more expensive than foreign ones
The cost of hotels at the Russian resorts this summer turned out to be significantly higher than in cities abroad, reports Ostrovok.ru press service.
The company analyzed bookings for the period from June 1 to August 31, comparing the data with the figures of last year.
"The majority of Russian tourists (64%) choose holidays abroad this summer, 36% chose to travel inside the country. Prices for hotel accommodation in Russia this year increased by an average of 28% compared to the same period last year, and abroad prices grew only by 9%. The reason for the increase in the cost of hotels in Russia was the change in the VAT rate from January 1, 2019. Prices for accommodation in hotels abroad have increased due to exchange rate fluctuations," the company believes.
As the company noted, a night in a three-star hotel in Alushta (Russia) will cost three times more than in Turkish Alanya (6 thousand Rubles (82 Euros) against 2 thousand Rubles (27 Euros), and the cost of a night in a 3* hotel in Yalta (Russia) will be 38% more expensive than in Rimini (6.8 thousand Rubles (93 Euros) against 4.9 thousand Rubles (68 Euros).
In the city of Lloret de Mar at Costa Brava in Spain, you can book a 3* hotel for 4.3 thousand Rubles (67 Euros) per night, which is 20% cheaper than accommodation in a similar hotel in Anapa (Russia).
According to Ostrovok.ru, tourists book hotels at Russian resorts from June to August for an average of 6.6 days, while last year for 5.7 days. The duration of abroad rest amounted to 7.5 days an avarage.
"In general, the demand of Russian tourists is concentrated on the beach and sightseeing tours - most of them book hotel rooms in Turkey, Spain, Italy, France and the USA. Alanya, Alicante, Marseille and New York are in the top 20 most popular cities abroad. In Russia the most popular cities are Sevastopol, Sudak, Alushta, Feodosiya and Simferopol," said the company.
