The Russians like their holidays long and do spend a lot of money. An average Russian tourist in Spain is 25-45 years old, makes a decent living, and resides in Moscow or Saint Petersburg. He books his vacation through a travel agent. In addition to beach leisure he enjoys sightseeing and loves sampling local cuisine.
Spanish officials also point out that after the opening of direct flights from Malaga to Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2015, the airport of the Costa del Sol received about 9746 Russian travelers. This is 9.4% more than in the same period in 2014. It is also noted that the number of tourists in hotels increased by 17,2% compared with the last year.
