"The Federal Agency for Tourism together with the leading tour operators found out where the Russians will rest during the long May holidays. Among the Russian tourist destinations on the leading positions are the Crimea (57.7% of search requests), Sochi and the resorts of the Krasnodar Region (29.61 %), St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region (2.19%)", - the report said.
Tourists are also interested in the rest in Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kaliningrad regions, Moscow and Moscow region, Karelia and Stavropol Region. In May 2017 the volume of airline bookings all over Russia increased by 12% against the last year. The average price for domestic flights is 5598 Rubles, which is 35% lower than a year ago.
"In May 2017 among the foreign destinations Turkey became the leader (32% of the search requests), also in high demand are Cyprus (8.21%) and Greece (7.22%)”, - the department said.
European destinations are also popular, in particular, Italy and the Czech Republic. Also in demand are Thailand, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates and the Dominican Republic.
“There are reasons to believe that the tourist flow in the first decade of May 2017 will exceed the last year's figures. The data of tour operators confirm this forecast", - said the Head of Rostourism Oleg Safonov.
