Only four large stands with popular tourist destinations were presented at the International Tourism Exhibition Inwetex, which took place from 12 to 14 October in St. Petersburg.
Turkey and Greece leased out the area of 60 square meters, Cyprus slightly less - 40 square meters. India also had a very large stand. But China, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Cuba and other countries had chosen small stands. According to observers, the tendency to reduce investments in the exposition among most foreign participants has intensified. "The cost of a large stand is from 30 to 40 thousand Euros. These amounts are actually invested only in maintaining of the image of the direction, which is too expensive, because at the exhibition the real contracts usually are not concluded", - explains Maria Mikhailova, marketing manager of Cyprus Tourism Organization in St. Petersburg.
We may add that this year the tour operators at the exhibition are represented mainly by medium-sized players from the Northern capital.
