“The Russian tourists visited Turkey much more actively in February 2017 than a year ago: the tourist flow has increased by 95.6% (39.26 thousand) against the same month of the last year”, - according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the country.
However, the total number of foreign tourists who visited Turkey in February decreased by 6.4% - from 1.24 million to 1.15 million. Thus, the tourists flow is declining during last 19 months due to potential security problems and fears, related to the policy of Turkey.
Earlier in March, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Hussein Yayman said that Turkey plans to host 5 million Russian tourists in 2017.
One of the Europe's largest tour operators Thomas Cook Group notes the gradual recovery of demand for travel to Turkey.
